LECTURE AT DRAKE TO FOCUS ON INSURANCE AFTER 9/11
Bruce G. Kelley, president and chief executive officer of EMC Insurance Companies,
will discuss "Property and Casualty Insurance after 9/11: The View From the
Midwest" in a lecture at Drake University on Thursday, Oct. 17.
The 16th annual Financial Executives International/Drake School of Accounting Lecture,
which is free and open to the public, will start at 7:15 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium
in Old Main, 26th Street and University Avenue. A reception will follow in Levitt
Hall.
Kelley, a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Iowa College of Law,
has an extensive background in both insurance and law. Before joining EMC in 1985,
he practiced law in Des Moines and specialized in insurance matters. He has held
numerous positions at EMC and was named president and chief executive officer in
1992. Kelley is active in professional insurance associations and has served as president
of the Iowa Chapter of the Certified Property Casualty Underwriters Society and the
Iowa Insurance Institute.
The FEI-Drake Lecture is an annual program sponsored by the Iowa chapter of the Financial
Executives International and Drake's School of Accounting. FEI is a professional
association of more than 14,000 senior financial executives from some 8,000 major
corporations throughout the United States and Canada.
