DRAKE STUDENTS TO SPEND MAKE-A-DIFFERENCE DAY AT LOCAL CARE CENTER
Drake University National Alumni Scholars – some of Drake’s top intellectual students – will spend a day conversing and entertaining with the members of the senior citizens of the Ramsey Living Community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 as part of the national Make-A-Difference Day effort.
From 9 to 11 a.m., the students will help the retirement home staff deliver coffee and doughnuts to residents and spend time chatting one-on-one with community members.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., students will host a bingo session for residents. Students will visit community members who prefer to stay in their rooms and play one-on-one games of checkers, Scrabble or converse.
Students will also work with residents living with Alzheimer’s disease, coloring and painting their nails and other beauty and grooming activities.
For more information on the event, contact Erin Mitchell or Whitney Denning at (515) 271-2615.
