DRAKE TO HOLD FORUM ON POLITICS & PUBLIC RELATIONS
Drake University
will host an open forum on politics titled "Political
PR: Policy, Politics and Everything In Between" at 1 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 27. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on the
upper level
of Olmsted Center, 29th Street and University Avenue.
Professionals from both sides of the political spectrum will pass along their
practical wisdom from their experiences in event planning, media relations,
fundraising, grassroots campaigning and the career path of politics.
The forum is co-sponsored by the Drake Public Relations Student Society of
America, the Drake Democrats, the Drake College Republicans and the Office
of the Student Body President.

This forum provides a behind-the-scenes look at politics that many people don't
know about," said Shawn Rolland, vice president of communications for
Drake PRSSA. "We made an extra special effort to get experts from
the Democratic and Republican parties in order to provide a balanced forum
for
all to enjoy and learn from."
The keynote speaker will be Mike Glover, an Associated Press reporter based
in Iowa. Other speakers will include Gentry Collins; executive director of
the Republican Party of Iowa and manager of the Doug Gross gubernatorial
campaign, Iowa Rep. Gene Maddox; Leon V. Mosley, state co-chairman of the
Republican
Party of Iowa; Mark Daley, communications director of the Iowa Democratic
Party; John Friedrich, Iowa state director for Dennis Kucinich; Sarah Benzing,
field
director for Bob Graham in Iowa; and Clare Gannon, deputy communications
director for Howard Dean in Iowa.
The forum, which includes lunch, costs $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
All pre-registration checks must be postmarked by Monday, Sept. 22, and mailed
