GOVERNOR, MAYOR DECLARE DEC. 5 ‘DRAKE APPRECIATION DAY’

In honor of Drake University’s 125th anniversary, Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie have each issued proclamations declaring Monday, Dec. 5, “Drake University Appreciation Day.”

Drake President David Maxwell will receive Mayor Cownie’s proclamation at Monday’s regularly scheduled Des Moines City Council meeting at 4 p.m., Des Moines City Hall, 400 E. First St.

The public is invited to join the governor and mayor in appreciating Drake by cheering for the Bulldog men’s basketball team, which plays Iowa State University at 7:05 p.m. at the Drake Knapp Center, 2525 Forest Ave.
