DRAKE TO HONOR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. ON TUESDAY, JAN. 17
Drake University students, faculty and staff will celebrate the life and teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. through multimedia presentations, song, verse, lecture and interaction in a celebration set for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave.
The celebration will examine the past, present and future of King’s legacy and the Civil Rights movement. Eric Johnson, Drake assistant professor of education, will reflect on the current state of Civil Rights in America. Drake students will read poetry centered on the theme of “Call to Action.”
The Drake Gospel Choir and the Langston Hughes Players will also perform.
A desert reception will follow in Levitt Hall in Old Main. The celebration
and reception are free and open to the public.
