DRAKE OFFERS FREE WORKSHOP ON MEDIATING EMPLOYEE CONFLICT
The Drake University Business Link is presenting a free workshop on “How to Mediate Employee Conflict” on Friday, Oct. 21, from 8:45 a.m. to noon at the Olmsted Center, 29th Street and University Avenue. Daniel Dana, founder of the Mediation Institute Training International, will facilitate the workshop.
Participants will learn how to better handle communication problems and personality clashes, deal with various types of conflict between employees and bosses, hold preliminary meetings with employees to get the facts, and how to contract a lasting agreement between conflicting employees.
Dana has spent 25 years as a specialist in mediation and conflict and is a leader in consensus-building communication methods for organizations. He is the designer of the Mediation Works Training System, a cafeteria plan for strategic management of organizational conflict and author of two books: “How to Build Better Relationships at Work and Home” and “Conflict Resolution: Mediation Tools for Everyday Worklife.”
This workshop is free of charge but seating is limited. Registration and a continental breakfast will take place from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. For more information or to complete early registration, visit www.cbpa.drake.edu/businesslink or contact Delaney J. Kirk, director of Drake Business Link, at (515) 271-3724 or delaney.kirk@drake.edu.
The Drake Business Link was established in 2000 to foster discussions about issues of interest to local business people. Additional Drake Business Link workshops, taught by Drake faculty, on timely business topics will be offered throughout the 2005-06 academic year.
