GRAPHIC DESIGNER MICHAEL BIERUT TO SPEAK AT DRAKE
On Thursday, Sept. 23, Michael Bierut, graphic designer partner at Pentagram Design, will present “Breaking the Pattern” at Drake University. His lecture is a part of the American Institute of Graphic Arts Iowa’s Solutions speaker series and will focus on innovation in creating business solutions. His presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in Bulldog Theater in Olmsted Center, 29th Street and University Avenue.
Bierut studied graphic design at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, graduating summa cum laude in 1980. He worked at Vignelli Associates for 10 years and became a partner at Pentagram Design in 1990.
His clients at Pentagram have included Harley-Davidson, The Minnesota Children’s Museum, The Walt Disney Company, Godiva Choclatier, Princeton University and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Bierut’s recent activities include creating new packaging for Saks Fifth Avenue and designing materials for Alliance for Downtown New York around the World Trade Center site.
