National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is a national survey that collects information from hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for learning and personal development.

The survey is a measurement of (1) the time and effort students put into their education, both in and out of the classroom, and (2) Drake’s perceived commitment to opportunities for student learning. Results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. In addition, NSSE provides participating institutions reports that compare student responses to peer institutions.

Drake’s list of peer institutions can be accessed here. Drake participates in NSSE on a three-year cycle, and all first-year and senior undergraduate students are surveyed, as well as P2 and P3 Pharmacy students.

The NSSE project is administrated by Indiana University Bloomington, and additional information can be accessed at http://nsse.indiana.edu/.
