June Felice Johnson, vice chair and associate professor of pharmacy practice, has published a chapter titled "Pharmacologic Management" in the 2nd edition of the textbook Gerontologic Nursing by Mosby publishing. She has also recently returned from a medical mission to El Salvador, where she assisted health-care providers in the development of their natural medicine clinic. She and a pediatrician also assisted with pharmaceuticals and advised poor children. She will be presenting a campus slide show of her trip in the near future.

Professors Elizabeth Robertson and Bruce Martin of the Department of English have published their essay, titled "Culture as Catalyst and Constraint: Toward a New Perspective on Difference," in the journal College English.

Dan Spencer, associate professor of religion and ethics, recently presented a paper to the Society of Christian Ethics, titled "What Kind of Christian Sexual Ethic Do We Need in a Time of HIV/AIDS?" His paper, "Ecological and Social Transformations and the Construction of Race and Place: A View from Iowa" is being published in the Union Seminary Quarterly Review.

Catherine Gillespie, assistant professor of education, is co-author of an article titled "Reasons Women Discontinued Participation in an Exercise and Wellness Program" that was published recently in The Physical Educator.

Bob Stensrud, associate professor of education, and Dennis Gilbride, associate professor of special education, are co-authors of an article titled "Improving the Quality of Employment Outcomes by Understanding the Nature of Work Environments" published in the Journal of Job Placement and Development. They are co-editors of the journal as well.

Carrie A. Foust, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, presented an invited seminar on March 13 at the American Pharmaceutical Association annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Her presentation was titled "Case Discussions: Migraine Management and Treatment."

Twelve faculty and staff members and students worked a six-hour shift as volunteers during Drake Night at Iowa Public Television's Festival 2000: Claudia Frazer, interlibrary loan associate; Theresa Graziano, administrative assistant; Trudi Holst, assistant director of study abroad; Phil Houle, assistant provost, information technology; Forrest Meyer, director of marketing and communications; Jean Perry, a junior law, politics and society major from Toledo, Iowa; Margaret Phelps, a junior music education major from Grinnell, Iowa; Cleveland Thomas, computer operator; Patti Verlengia, technical assistant; Kim Warner, a sophomore journalism major from Hope, British Columbia, Canada; Jan Wise, director of student organizations; and David Wright, associate professor of journalism.
