Neil Hamilton, the Ellis and Nelle Levitt distinguished professor of law and director of the Drake Agricultural Law Center, was interviewed on "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer" on Tuesday, April 4. The PBS program focused on the controversy over genetically modified foods.

Mark Vitha, assistant professor of chemistry, gave a presentation at the Pittsburgh Conference and Exposition on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy held in New Orleans, March 12-17. The title of the presentation was "Measuring Solute Parameters Using Kovats Retention Indices."
Gholam A. Mirafzal, associate professor of chemistry, has published an article titled "Microwave Irradiation Reactions: Synthesis of Analgesic Drugs" in the March issue of the Journal of Chemical Education.
"The Homeplace," a screenplay by William S.E. Coleman, professor of theatre arts, has been nominated in the unproduced screenplay category for Showcase Iowa, the Iowa Motion Picture Association's annual awards banquet and ceremony. This is Coleman's fifth consecutive nomination in this category - a record. Coleman also has been notified by the U.S. Army that he has been decorated with a Bronze Star medal for bravery and meritorious service during action as a rifleman in the combat infantry in World War II. This delayed award was the result of an Army program reviewing veterans records. Coleman served with the 417th Infantry Battalion in the 76th Infantry Division in Patton's Third Army during the Rhineland and Central European campaigns.
