GOLF LEAGUE FORMING
Recreational Services is offering the Faculty-Staff Golf League again this summer.
The league will be a doubles league. If interest is significant, ability groupings
may be formed. Nine holes will be played each week.
The league will be administered on a handicap basis with 80 percent of the difference
between a person's average and scratch used as the handicap. Handicaps are capped
at 30 strokes.
League play is scheduled to take place Tuesdays at Grand View Golf Course with tee
times starting sometime after 4 p.m.
Play is scheduled to begin on May 16 and run through July or early August (depending
on rain-outs).
The entry fee for the league will be $25 per team. Individuals are invited to enter
for a fee of $12.50, and Recreational Services will try to identify a partner for
the individual. The entry fee money will be used to cover the costs of administering
the league.
In addition to the league fee, each golfer will be required to pay green fees to
Grand View Golf Course, which requires all leagues to pay their fees in advance of
play. Green fees are currently $13 for nine holes. The league will run 10 weeks,
which means Recreational Services will collect a total of $142.50 per player with
your entries.
Spouses and/or significant others are welcome to play in the league. Spots will be
filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in participating in
this league should contact Joel Bluml at x3849 or joel.bluml@drake.edu.
