WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2
- Drake Neighborhood Farmers' Market opens for the season with a strawberry festival, parking lot of First Christian Church, 25th Street and University Avenue, 4 to 7 p.m. Free flowering plants and blood pressure screenings also will be available. The market will continue every Wednesday through September.
THURSDAY, JUNE 3
- George Gasparis, director of the Health Science Division at Columbia University, will discuss Exempt and Expedited Review at a seminar sponsored by the Institutional Review Boards of Drake, Iowa State University, Des Moines University and Iowa Health - Des Moines, Olmsted Center, 3 to 8 p.m. RSVP to Jayne Smith at x3788.
FRIDAY, JUNE 4
- "American Idol" contestant AJ Gil will perform a benefit concert for the Institute for Character Development at Drake. The concert will take place at Blank Park Zoo from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets, which cost $5, will be available at the door.
- Stargazing: Public presentation on "Tools for Amateur Astronomers," Drake Municipal Observatory, Waveland Park, 8 p.m.

- First four-week term begins.

- A Slice of Summer - Employee Celebration Event, Parents Hall North, Olmsted Center, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a short program at 1:45 p.m. honoring staff members celebrating service anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 35 years between June 1, 2003, and Sept. 1, 2004. RSVP to Laura Schwarz at x3133 by June 3.
- Drake Neighborhood Farmers' Market, parking lot of First Christian Church, 25th Street and University Avenue, 4 to 7 p.m. Anderson Erickson Dairy will offer free samples of Icy Cold To Go. Cubbie, the mascot of the Iowa Cubs, will visit from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
