Thomas E. Baker, professor of law and director of the Constitutional Law Center, published an op-ed piece in the June 19 issue of The National Law Journal. The article, titled "Think Hard: Winner Takes Court," explored how the winner of the 2000 presidential election will reshape the Supreme Court.

Jerry E. Honts, assistant professor of biology, presented a paper titled "Novel Cytoskeletal -Proteins in the Cortex of Tetrahymena" at a symposium, Novel Cytoskeletal Proteins in Protists, held during the joint meeting of the American Society of Parasitologists and The Society of Protozoologists, June 24-28, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Bob Ehrhart, longtime director of the Drake Relays, has been named recipient of the Sam Skinner Award by the Track and Field Writers of America for cooperation with the media. Ehrhart, who recently retired after 31 years as the Drake Relays director, will be honored at a July 17 luncheon in Sacramento, Calif., during the U.S. Olympic Track Trials.

Scott A. Yetmar, assistant professor of accounting, has published an article titled "Tax Analysts' Tax Base: A Tremendous Improvement in Tax Research" in the May issue of The Journal of the American Taxation Association. He also has published an Internet-based Student Study Guide, Financial Accounting (Harrison and Horngren), 3rd Edition. The guide can be found at

Jan McMahill, assistant dean of the School of Education, and Sandra Smeltzer, director of summer programs, were quoted in an article about distance-learning programs in the June issue of Converge. The article noted that Drake offers undergraduate and graduate coursework in three ways: over Iowa's statewide, fiber-optic network; over the Internet; and through award-winning video correspondence courses.

Jon Ericson, the Ellis and Nelle Levitt professor of rhetoric and communication studies, was featured in a June 21 article in The Tennessean about his efforts to organize faculty members nationwide to fight corruption in college sports.
