- New phone and phonemail systems
begin operation.
- Iowa Private College Week will
bring hundreds of prospective students and their families to Drake this week. Sessions
start daily at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Levitt Hall in Old Main.
- 2000 Drake Bulldog Golf Classic,
Briarwood Golf Course, Ankeny, 1 p.m. The $75 fee covers golf, cart, prizes, golf
shirt and dinner. Call x2734.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9
- Ice Cream Social, Olmsted Circle,
2 to 3:30 p.m., 50 cents.
- Neighborhood Improvement Task
Force, Drake Room, Olmsted Center, 3:30 p.m.
- Free Ice Cream Party at the Drake
Neighborhood Farmers Market, parking lot of First Christian Church, 4 to 7 p.m. Entertainment:
Phil Hague, harmonica player, from 4 to 4:30 p.m., and Harmony Central from 6 to
7 p.m.
- President David Maxwell and his
wife, Madeleine, ride in the Iowa State Fair Parade, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at
the State Capitol and travels down Grand Avenue to 10th Street.

stickers for the 2000-01 academic year.
- Bulldog Corn Feed, Izaak Walton
League Clubhouse, 4343 Valley Drive, social hour at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m.,
program at 7:30 p.m. Cost: $17 per person.
