FRIDAY, AUGUST 15

• Conference on health care policy, Sheslow Auditorium, all day.
• Coach Natasha Kaiser-Brown will participate in the Iowa State Fair's Draft Horse Competition, Livestock Pavilion, 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16

• Celebrate DU the Fair! on Drake Day at the Iowa State Fair. Free gifts will be distributed at the Drake Booth on the Grand Concourse, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Free Drake souvenir photos will be taken at the Drake Photo Booth on Rock Island Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Basketball Shootout will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Rock Island Avenue. The Chemistry Department will give a Magic Show at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Village, Country School, where the School of Education will present storytelling at 11 a.m. Law professor Neil Hamilton will give a talk on food policy at 4 p.m. in the Anderson Erickson Dairy Building. Drake students and alumni will give musical performances from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on the American Heritage Stage.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20

• Residence halls open for the fall semester as Welcome Week activities begin.
• New Faculty Orientation, Olmsted Center Conference Rooms, 1 to 3 p.m.
• Reception for New Faculty, Levitt Hall, Old Main, 4 to 5 p.m.
• Free slices of watermelon will be distributed at the Drake Neighborhood Farmers' Market, parking lot of First Christian Church, 25th Street and University Avenue, 4 to 7 p.m.
• Drake men's soccer vs. Truman State, Cownie Soccer Complex, 7 p.m.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 21

• Law School classes begin at 8 a.m.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 22

• New Faculty Orientation: Professor Delaney Kirk will present "Classroom Management: How to Teach Like a Pro," Aliber Hall, room 107, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 23

• Drake women's soccer vs. North Dakota State, Cownie Soccer Complex, 5 p.m.
• Drake volleyball intrasquad competition, Knapp Center, 7 p.m.
• Drake men's soccer vs. Hastings, Cownie Soccer Complex, 7 p.m.

MONDAY, AUGUST 25

• Classes start at 8 a.m. for the fall semester.
• Drake Athletic Department Corn Feed and Golf Outing. The golfing will start at 12:30 p.m. at the Willow Creek Golf Course. The Corn Feed will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. in the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines. The cost for both events is $95. The fee for the Corn Feed only is $20. For reservations, call xDOGS.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 26

• Rehearsals begin for the Drake University/Community Chorus, Monroe Recital Hall, Harmon Fine Arts Center, 6:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27
