, the Ellis and Nelle Levitt professor of music history and harpsichord, has been appointed to the editorial board of Early Keyboard Music, the only scholarly journal devoted exclusively to this field.

Thomas Swiss, professor of English, was an Obermann Center Fellow for three weeks this past summer at the Faculty Research Project,University of Iowa. The seminar topic was "Historical Perspectives on Digital Culture." Swiss's book chapter, "Digital Poetry in the Age of Digital Noise," will be published in a volume from the project in 2001. Swiss is also co-editor, with Andrew Herman, associate professor of sociology, of a book titled The World Wide Web and Cultural Theory, published last month by Routledge.

Martin Begleiter, professor of law, was quoted twice in a lengthy article about the estate of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas that appeared in the Aug. 31 issue of USA Today.

Klaus Bartschat, the Ellis and Nelle Levitt distinguished professor of physics, has published two articles in the Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics. The first article was titled "Differential Cross Sections for Electron-impact Excitation of Krypton at Low Incident Energies: I. Excitation of the 4p55s Configuration." The second article was titled "Excitation and Polarization of the 33D State of Helium by Electron Impact."

T.K. Lin, professor of history, presented a paper on the influence of history on the shaping of Taiwanese political culture at the annual conference of the North American Taiwanese Professors' Association, which took place June 23 through July 1 in three major cities in Taiwan.

Law professor Neil Hamilton, director of the Agricultural Law Center, was quoted in a July 30 article in The Washington Post titled "Small Wins for Family Farms."

Jack Gerlovich, professor of education, has completed the third edition of Teaching Science for All Children with co-authors Martin and Sexton of Ohio University. The new edition is being published by Allyn & Bacon under a 2001 copyright date.

Journalism professor Herb Strentz and Kathleen Richardson, a second-year law student, are authors of a chapter in Access Denied, Freedom of Information in the Information Age, published this fall by Iowa State University Press. The chapter, "We the People: State and Federal FOI Resources and Activities," provides brief biographies of 10 people involved in issues regarding access to government information and summaries of several information- access organizations. Richardson, a former editor and columnist for The Des Moines Register and Tribune, has succeeded Strentz as executive secretary of the Iowa FOI Council.
