The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires most employers to provide up to 12 workweeks of job protected, unpaid leave per 12-month period of eligible employees for: the birth or adoption or foster care placement of a child; to care for a family member with a serious health condition; or the employee's own serious health condition.
