RaySociety Mission Statement (Ray Society)The RaySociety is a volunteer driven lifelong learning organization associated with and supported by Drake University. It is designed to provide non-credit educational opportunities, activities and events to individuals of retirement age in Central Iowa and to provide a social setting for people to meet and exchange ideas with others of similar interests. About Us
Associated with Drake University, the RaySociety is for retired adults, individual in background but united in purpose. Members of the RaySociety design an engaging semiannual, non-credit program of courses involving current events, technology, architecture, multimedia, local culture and concerns of society and lifestyle. Retired and current faculty of Drake University, along with area community and business leaders, contribute their expertise to diverse topics and activities. Courses are multi-dimensional, and while primarily set on Drake's campus, they often include field trips to areas of local interest. The RaySociety is also active in many events featured by Drake University, such as the insightful Bucksbaum Lecture Series. The RaySociety integrates the interests of many to provide a fun, social atmosphere rooted in ongoing learning.
