Lewis J. McNurlen Scholarship For Outstanding Sociology Major is named in honor of Dr. Lewis J. McNurlen, Professor of sociology at Drake from 1957 to 1985. This award recognizes an outstanding junior in sociology for both academic and extra-curricular performance.

McNurlen Award For Outstanding Sociology Senior is named in honor of Dr. Lewis J. McNurlen, Professor of sociology at Drake from 1957 to 1985. This award is given annually to a student judged to be the most outstanding senior sociology major, demonstrating distinctive performance in both academic and extra-curricular work at Drake.

Outstanding Rhetoric Senior Award is presented to graduating seniors in rhetoric and communication studies who demonstrate superb academic performance, advanced research, leadership, and mentoring.

Drake senior Morayo Adeyoju, a native of the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria, shares his cultural history as part of an art exhibition on display through Oct. 22 in The Anderson Gallery. Adeyoju's grandfather was a king of the Yoruba tribe.
