Specialist in Education

From customized entry plans to seminar days designed to reflect on field experiences, the Specialist in Education degree with licensure will prepare you for a leadership role in your school district. 

Educational professionals that have already received a master’s degree in education can pursue a principal or superintendent licensure through Drake’s Specialist in Education program. Cohorts for this program start every fall. Classes are offered in a blended format and the program can be completed in less than two years. The Specialist in Education program includes two licensure emphases:

• Specialist in Education with Superintendent Licensure
• Specialist in Education with Principal Licensure

This program is aligned with EdD and PhD doctoral degree options. 

Outcomes

You will gain the skills, confidence, and resources needed to effectively market your abilities in the field of educational leadership. Graduates overwhelmingly feel prepared for a leadership role upon graduation thanks to experienced faculty, mentorship opportunities with practicing administrators, and simulated and hands-on learning experiences. Almost half of EdS graduates reported pursuing advanced job opportunities within a year of program completion. Graduates additionally reported career advancements with an average income increase of $30,000 or more.
