DU Blue Book Bash

In collaboration with the office of Community Engagement and Service Learning, the Student Activities Board brings to campus the second annual DU Blue Book Bash, a service event held during the week of Relays. The DU Blue Book Bash is an integrative event bringing both the Des Moines and Drake community together through a passion of reading. During this event local elementary students will have the opportunity to participate in different activities such as bookmark making and creating a chalked street. These students will also be provided with a brand new book to take home with them. Drake students also have the opportunity to participate in this event through volunteering. Below you will find a link to a volunteer survey in which individuals who are interested in volunteering can sign up. The event will be held on April 22nd from 3:30 - 5:00 pm however we ask that volunteers arrive shortly earlier, around 3:15 pm, in order to check-in.

Volunteer sign up.

During the event and weeks after we will have large book bins placed around campus buildings. We are asking that Drake students donate an old book either at the event or after. These used books will then be collected through the organization Better World Books which will provide us with a dollar for every used book donated, thus helping to sustain our event in years to come.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
