Students Together Empowering People (STEP)

Students Together Empowering People was founded in 2012 when Ann Den Hartog and a group of 6 other students were looking for a way to involve students from an area high school and Drake in service projects. In the spring the program brings students from Roosevelt High School to Drake as a part of the service component of the Adam's Leadership Academy. The high school students join Drake students on campus in many activities to learn about university life, plan a service event or project, and together they give back to the community through their respective projects. Since 2012, it has grown to be a yearly program with the Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning and Adams' Academy students.
