The Iowa Architectural Foundation hosted a reception last week to mark the completed renovation of the Catholic diocese's downtown pastoral center. Because the center, like Meredith Hall, was designed by famed architect Mies van der Rohe, an exhibit that featured Drake architecture and Meredith was part of the festivities. Among attendees were SJMC dean Kathleen Richardson and SJMC alum (and architecture fan) Dave Lubbers, JO'86, whose day job is producer for ESPN.
The Drake alumni chapter in Washington, D.C., is hosting its annual networking event for alums and students on Tuesday, June 19, 6-8 p.m. at Sudhouse DC. See the University Advancement website to register and for more information.
The Social Media Club Des Moines' annual Hashie awards are open for entries. There are both professional and student categories. Students can enter either, and there is a special student discount. Deadline for entries is July 15.
The SJMC Monday Memo is a weekly newsletter to keep members of the wider SJMC community updated on School news, achievements, events and opportunities. If you have an item for the Memo, please send it to Dean Kathleen Richardson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or SJMC webmaster and multimedia professor Chris Snider (email@example.com). SJMC alums and other professionals can also contact Chris to have the Memo delivered via weekly email.
