Adult Literacy Center

Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs which serve children from birth to age five, pregnant women and their families. The programs are child-focused and have the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families. National Rehabilitation Institute
The National Rehabilitation Institute at Drake University was founded in 1976. Through grants from the Federal Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration the Institute awards scholarships and stipends to students who are interested in pursuing degrees in Rehabilitation Administration and Rehabilitation Counseling. Resource Center for Issues in Education
The Iowa Behavioral Alliance, based at Drake University's Resource Center for Issues in Education, addresses the needs of students in public schools in Iowa through positive behavioral supports, dropout prevention programs, and access to mental health service. Teacher Quality Project
TQP is a federally funded partnership between Drake University, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and the Des Moines Public Schools with the goal to increase the number of high quality teachers of color and Native teachers in schools that enroll large numbers of low income students from ethnic minority groups.
