Drake University Transcripts
Frequently Asked QuestionsDrake University only issues official transcripts. The document includes all Drake courses and transfer credits accepted. It is printed on security paper and does not require a hand embossed University seal. Transcripts can be placed in a sealed envelope with a hand embossed University seal on the outside, upon request.
If documents must accompany the transcript, it is best for you to pick-up the transcript yourself and package the transcript with the required documents. If this is not possible, include the attachments with your written transcript request to be included with the transcript.

How may I order a Drake transcript?
You may download a transcript request form (above) and submit it by one of the following methods:
- By fax: 515-271-4004
- By mail: Transcripts, Office of the Student Accounts, 2507 University Ave, Des Moines, IA, 50311
- In person: at 102 Old Main
Is there a charge?
- Each transcript is $5.00 which must be paid at the time of the request.
A bulk discount is charged if more than four copies are requested at the same time.
Each document after the fourth copy is a $1.00.
Must I mail in a check?
- Payment can be made by credit card, check or cash. Faxed in requests will only be accepted with appropriate credit card information:
- account number
- expiration date, and
- signature of card holder
- Visa, Master Card and Discover accepted
What is the turn around time? How long will this take?
- Allow three to five business days of processing time.
Can I have an unofficial transcript?
- Drake University only issues official transcripts. Please indicate at the time of your request, if a Drake hand embossed seal needs to be on the outside of the sealed envelope.
What if my record is on hold?
- "Holds" may restrict the release of permanent records (transcripts). Transcripts will not be released until the student has made satisfactory arrangements with the office that initiated the hold. Student Accounts will notify a student if a hold will prevent the release of their transcript. The student must resolve this matter by contacting the appropriate office(s).
May I pick up my transcript?
- Upon special request, transcripts may be picked up after 2:00 p.m. the next business day in Old Main, Room 105, as long as the request is submitted before Noon on the previous day. There is no additional charge for this service.
Can I request express delivery?
- For an additional $25.00 fee, the transcript can be sent overnight by an express service. Express delivery can not be made to a P.O. Box.
Can I request Saturday delivery?
- For an additional $37.50 fee, the transcript can be sent overnight by an express service for Saturday delivery. Express delivery can not be made to a P.O. Box.
Can my transcript be faxed?
- For an additional $1.00 fee, the transcript can be faxed. The original will be mailed to the address of the fax number. Be aware that a faxed document may or may not be accepted as official by the receiver.
What information should be included in the request?
- Requests should include the following information and payment:
Drake Student ID number
Full name
Any former names
Approximate last attendance date
Daytime phone number in case there are questions or problems
Your current mailing address
Transcript mailing address (please include a specific name or department)
May I request my transcript now and receive it after my grades are posted?
- Yes - Please indicate at the time of the request that you wish the transcript sent after the current semester grades are posted.
May I request my transcript now and receive it after my degree is posted?
- Yes - Please indicate at the time of the request that we should wait and issue the transcript once the degree has been cleared by your college and has been posted.
