I hope that this letter bids you good greetings.  By now you all should have received your Parent & Family Weekend brochures and are excited about all of the events happening on campus during the weekend of September 26th through 28th. If you are in need of another brochure, you can find one at the following web address (/parents/parent_familyWeeknd.pdf) or if you would like a hard copy please email or call the number below.   As a reminder, the registration forms are due September 19th.

There are a variety of events planned for Parent & Family Weekend and when you arrive there will be an updated schedule at the information table in Olmsted.  The information table will be in operation on Friday the 26th from 5 pm until 7 pm and on Saturday the 27th from 8 am until noon.   Below are just a few of the events that will take place:

Music Mayhem (Music Game Show similar to Name that Tune)
Friday, September 26th at 7 pm in Olmsted

President’s Assembly (President Maxwell will speak to Parents and Guests)
Saturday, September 27th at 9 am in Olmsted

Study Abroad Program at Drake (Jen Hogan, Assistant Director, Study Abroad)
Saturday, September 27th at 11:15 am in Olmsted

Women’s Volleyball vs. Missouri State
Saturday, September 27th at 7 pm in Knapp Center

I would encourage you all to attend Parents & Family Weekend even if it is a one day trip.  The students enjoy seeing a familiar face around this time and would love to have someone take them out to lunch or dinner and not on their own money.  If you have sent in the registration form to purchase tickets your names will be at the dining hall on Sunday morning, which means there are no tickets that will need to be picked up.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact me via email ( or via phone at 515-271-4078.  Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you all in just a few short weeks.
