Social Space and Social Life in Spain
Anthropology encourages in-depth understandings of cultures. This study seminar offers students the opportunity to spend an extended period of time in a foreign country living, studying and participating in local life. If you are looking to spend more than a couple of weeks experiencing a foreign culture, then this study seminar is for you!
Spain has experienced a dramatic shift in the last 30 years from a dictatorship to a liberal democracy. In that shift Spain has sought to become more European, more cosmopolitan and more European. This course will look at how Spain has sought to change social life through social space and how social life has also shaped social space. We will be visiting social spaces of all sorts including museums, entertainment districts and parks.
