Cost and Fees

Financial aid, including loans, grants, and scholarships may apply toward the cost of your education abroad experience. Please check with the Office of Financial Planning in Carnegie Hall to discuss your financial aid package, and how it would apply to the education abroad program you would like to join.

Drake Faculty-Led Programs

  • The Advisor for Drake Programs abroad will send payment instructions for each program
  • No Drake tuition is billed for J-term programs
  • Travel expenses vary per program, but generally include the cost of airfare and/or transportation, entrance to cultural and educational sites, lodging, and some meals
  • Personal expenses (passport, student visa, cell phone, vaccines, etc.) are paid by the participant
  • Some exceptions in program costs and fees exist - review your program's page in Terra Dotta, or speak to our office if you have any concerns about the cost of the program you are selecting

Semester and Academic Year Programs

  • Drake University tuition is charged to the student account
  • 100 percent of your financial aid (loans, grants, and scholarships) are applied to your student account
  • Non-tuition fees (housing, excursions, some programs include meals, etc.) are billed at the rate given by the Program Partner
  • Books, academic supplies, and lab fees are paid by the participant
  • Airfare and transportation are paid by the participant
  • Personal expenses (passport, student visa, cell phone, vaccines, etc.) are paid by the participant
  • Some exceptions in program costs and fees exist - review your program's page in Terra Dotta, the Program Partner's website, or speak to our office if you have any concerns about the cost of the program you are selecting
