Summer Drop Deadlines

*The Summer 2009 semester does not have officially-defined interim, 4-week, or 5-week sessions.  The class start- and end-dates vary.

Summer 2009 Add Deadlines

Date Significance Comment
One Calendar Day Before First Meeting Day of Class Last day to add class through Blueview. No special approval needed as long as student meets all prerequisites and satisfies all section restrictions.
First Meeting Day of Class through End of Class Adding through Blueview becomes unavailable.

- Instructor approval required to add class.

- Student must provide documentation of instructor approval to dean's office or Student Records Office to complete the registration.

 

Summer 2009 Drop Deadlines

Date Significance Comment
May 17 Last day to drop class through Blueview. No special procedure or permission necessary.
May 18 Dropping through Blueview becomes unavailable. For classes that have not yet started:
  • Students admitted to a degree program should contact their dean's office.
  • Visiting students should contact the Student Records Office (515-271-2025).

For classes that have already started: See the following rows of this table.

First business day following the first meeting day of a class

- Last day to drop the class for a full tuition refund.

- Last day to drop the class without a "W" on student's transcript.

- Students must receive the instructor's approval to drop the class.

Example: A class begins Friday, June 5.  To receive a full refund for the class and to avoid having a "W" placed on thier transcript, students must notify their dean's office or the Student Records Office by 4:30 pm CT on Monday, June 8, that they intend to drop the class.  Students who drop a class after this deadline will be responsible for the full tuition and fees for the class and also receive a "W" for the class on their transcript.
Midpoint of the class

- Last day to drop the class.

- Students must receive the instructor's approval to drop the class.

- Students will be responsible for 100% of the tuition and fees for the class.

- Students will receive a "W" for the class on their transcript.

Students may not drop a class after its midpoint without special permission from their dean.
