Saturday, August 26

  • Optional Q&A with directors at 9:30 a.m. – anyone just finding out about auditions who wants to auditions should attend this meeting as well as all first year students
  • Auditions start at 10:00 a.m.

Auditions are timed

If auditioning for the musical and the plays:
REQUIRED for BFA Musical Theatre Majors and any BFA Acting, Directing or Theatre Ed Major that is also a MT Minor that are available for casting both semesters, unless studying abroad, stage managing or directing an STP or Mainstage.

  • 3 minutes total for 2 monologues (one contemporary and one Greek) and one song in the style of Runaways

If auditioning for plays only:
REQUIRED for BFA Acting, Directing and Theatre Ed Majors that are not also MT minor

  • 2 minutes total for 2 monologues (one contemporary and one Greek)

If auditioning for the musical only:
only an option for minors or non-BFA Performance majors only

  • 90 seconds total- one contemporary song in the style of Runaways

Pick material that is right for the shows and characters you are interested in.
Do not perform a song or monologue from the shows.

To audition for the Drake Department of Theatre Arts 2017-2018 Productions, please email Alina Grimm for an audition time slot before 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 25 at alina.grimm@drake.edu. If you are a BFA major, you are pre-assigned an audition time.

Be sure to email all directors (mirla.criste@drake.edu, john.graham@drake.edu, michael.rothmayer@drake.edu, colin.meyer@drake.edu, brock.webb@drake.edu) your completed Audition Form by to 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 25. You must email the directors this form along with signing up for an audition time slot.

If you are not a BFA Theatre Major and find out about the auditions later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 25 you can still attend the auditions. Just attend the 9:30 a.m. meeting on Saturday August 26 and we can sign you up for a time then.

Tuesday August 29
Faculty will meet to cast the shows and The Goat will start rehearsal that night.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Everyone must make himself or herself available for rehearsal for THE GOAT that will start on the evening of August 29. That means if you have a job in the evenings, on or off campus, you cannot work in the evenings that week in case you are cast in The Goat.
  • If you are auditioning, regardless if you are a BFA Theatre Performance Major or not, you MUST accept any role you are cast in. If you are not willing to do this, then please do not audition.‌
