Campus Signage Standards

Even our signage “speaks” Drake, with consistent design features that give Drake’s campus a cohesive appearance. The Office of University Communications has designed standard templates that accommodate most signage needs. You can order building and institutional signage from Facilities Planning and Management using this form.

Institutional and building signage have set design and material specifications, many of which are embossed or engraved. These items take six to eight weeks to fulfill.

  • Pedestrian street/directional signs
  • Wayfinding kiosks
  • Donor recognition plaques and signs
  • Parking lot signs
  • Code signage (such as room numbers)

If you need a repair made to an existing sign, please submit a work order with Facilities Planning and Management.

If you have event-specific/temporary signage needs, please contact University Communications at x2169.

How to Order:

  1. Determine signage needs.
  2. Fill out the Signage Request Form. This form provides FOAPAL authorization for the purchase, a requirement by Drake's Accounting Department.
  3. Your budget manager must email the completed form to Jolene Schmidt (jolene.schmidt@drake.edu). Facilities will coordinate with Drake’s signage vendor and provide details on cost, delivery, and installation.
  4. You will receive a proof that requires your approval before production can begin. Please note that you are responsible for spelling and accuracy.
