Positioning Yourself for Success at Drake University

Fall 2012 New Student Program
Thursday-Friday, August 23rd-24th

Arrival at Drake:

For International Students: Please plan to arrive in Des Moines between August 19th and August 21st. For more information on your arrival process, visit the International Center webpage.

For other students living on campus: You may move into your residence hall beginning August 22nd at 8:00am. Roommate assignments will be available online beginning July 24th, 2012. For information on viewing visit the Residence Life webpage

Meals: Students should be prepared to purchase meals until their meal plan goes into effect Thursday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m. Hubbell Dining Hall will be open for lunch and dinner on Wednesday, Aug 22 and for breakfast on Thursday, Aug 23 on a cash payment basis until the meal plan goes into effect. Students without a meal plan will obtain a meal ticket for the duration of the New Student Program.

Reality and Strategy Meeting

Students meet with academic representatives in their respective College/School to increase knowledge on academic policies and procedures, partner with faculty, staff, and peers, and discuss professional and personal goals, responsible global citizenship, and meaningful personal lives.

 

Navigating Your New Environment: Online Resources Q-A                                       

Each student will access and navigate online resources with the guidance of a Peer Mentor. Students will view blueView, Student Account; Blackboard; Career Blueprint, Information Technology; and other key online resources.

A welcome and special remarks from President David Maxwell and First Lady, Mrs. Madeleine Maxwell will be followed by a buffet-style lunch.
