Makhmouth Dia

Adjunct Instructor of French

Makhmouth Dia holds a PhD in Postcolonial Studies from the University of Caen-Basse Normandie (France) and a MA in Foreign Language Pedagogy from the University of Delaware.

His experience includes many years as an instructor of foreign languages (French and English) in Senegal, France, England, and in the United States. He has worked with various ages/levels of learners ranging from beginning to advanced students and elementary learners to professors or professionals such as journalists, athletes, artists, etc.

His primary research and publications have focused on theorizing the tragic and comic genres in postcolonial literatures, reassessing the idea of an African tragedy or analyzing postcolonial adaptations/rewritings of Western drama.  Other lines of research interests explore cultural understanding in the Foreign Language classroom, and cultural paradigms in film translation (dubbing and subtitling).
