Native Speakers

The native speakers facilitate the conversationally-based classes once a week.

Most native speakers are students, both undergraduate and graduate; many language students find this to be an enormous advantage in that they can engage in activities with their native speaker outside the classroom to continue language and culture learning.

You might attend Drake basketball games together and explore the difference in collegiate athletics in target culture and the United States, perhaps go to a restaurant of the target culture, etc. The native speakers also assist the professors in developing events like karaoke night or calligraphy night.

Thomas R. Rosburg, professor of biology at Drake University, will deliver the 30th Annual Luther W. Stalnaker Lecture on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium.
