Kathrine Beers

Three interesting things about Kathrine:

• I can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than two minutes.
• I’m a foodie. I love growing plants and herbs, creating recipes and sharing nutrition information.
• My name was supposed to be spelled with an “e” in the middle, but my parents’ misspelled it on my birth certificate! Now it’s a family joke that we have to be very careful when spelling anything.

Why do you love Drake?

The people and community! I’m from the west coast but I swear I’ve met some of the nicest people in Iowa and at Drake. I felt welcome immediately. You can tell how much the community truly cares about the university and the student experience. I’m also constantly impressed by the opportunities for students – everything from connections and internships to the variety of clubs and activities on campus!

What is your favorite thing to do in Des Moines?

I like sightseeing, so I love going up to the capital building to see the view of the city. I’m looking forward to the Des Moines Farmer’s Market and spending time at Gray’s Lake this summer too!
