Three interesting things about Megan:

  • I memorized over 100 digits of pi (3.141592…) for a middle school competition and somehow I still know it.
  • During the 2016 Iowa Caucuses I was an intern for NBCUniversal when they came to Des Moines and got to meet Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and many other NBC celebrities. I’m a huge Today show fan so this was a dream come true.
  • I was the sixth generation to graduate from Geneva High School – my family has a lot of history in Geneva.

Why do you love Drake?

I love Drake because it gave me so many opportunities. Throughout my four years as an undergrad I learned and grew so much. I was fortunate to have six internships related to journalism during school and Drake equipped me with the tools to be a leader in organizations I was passionate about including my sorority and Drake Orientation.

What is your favorite thing to do in Des Moines?

My favorite thing to do in Des Moines is explore the city with friends. You’ll usually find us at taco Tuesday or the Farmers Market on Saturdays. I had never been to Des Moines before coming to Drake and I’m so glad I’m able to live in such a vibrant city that has so much to offer.

What is your advice for prospective students?

My advice for prospective students: It’s alright to be overwhelmed. Going through the college search process is so exciting, yet so nerve racking. Am I going to pick the right place? Make sure to visit a variety of colleges, with a variety of sizes, and in a variety of different places. City? Rural? Urban? It’s all about finding where you feel most comfortable. Obviously I’m biased, but I think Drake is a great school. But I recognize there’s a lot of great schools out there. It’s all about finding where you think you will thrive. I’m excited to help you navigate the search!
