This past fall and winter, when the national political spotlight shone brightly on Drake, it was the Political Visitor Team who orchestrated it all. Led by Rachel Paine Caufield, associate professor of politics and director of the Iowa Caucus Project, the team includes Jarad Bernstein, director of public relations and media management; Scott Law, director, campus security services; and Matt Miller, University events manager. The group was awarded a “Called to be True Blue” Award on April 8 for their efforts.
Tyler Spoon, database administrator with Drake ITS, was honored March 4, 2016 with the Called to be True Blue Award from All Staff Council. His nominator, the Human Resources department, lauded his excellent customer service, proactivity in responding to issues or requests, high level of expertise, integrity, professionalism, willingness to go the extra mile, and unfailingly positive attitude.
Melissa Sturm-Smith, associate provost for academic excellence and student success, was honored Feb. 9, 2016 with the Called to be True Blue Award from All Staff Council for her humble leadership, hard work, and dedication.

Chrystal Stanley, professional and career development services/academic achievement coordinator, was recognized Nov. 10, 2015 with the Called to be True Blue Award from All Staff Council.
From her nomination,
While the True Blue Award should be named after Paul Morrison, Sandy Clubb would be a close 2nd with her amazing energy, personality, excellence and vision with her leadership in our athletic department to make Drake University a better place for our students. It goes without say, Sandy truly lives the Bulldog Way!
Sara Schoneberg, student records service specialist, was recognized December 9, 2015 with the Called to be True Blue Award from All Staff Council. She was honored for being a valuable team player who is always willing to go above and beyond.
Frank is a True Blue Bulldog! He had a great career here at Drake playing football and is truly living the Bulldog Way by adding value to the University on a daily basis. His personality and fund raising energy has helped our athletic department and the University continue to provide an excellent experience for our students! Excellence, integrity and fiscal responsibility all in one! Frank was nominated by Dan Hostager (not pictured).
JoBeth Malone-Schoneberg, a chemistry laboratory assistant, was presented with the Called to be True Blue Award for her help in preparing for the Harvey Ingham remodel.
JoBeth and all others who receive Called to be True Blue Award this fiscal year are in the running to win top honors for staff accomplishment—the Sapphire Award—at a recognition event in May.
