Kent Haochuan Hu, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Accounting

Dr. Kent Hu is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Drake University. He holds a Bachelor of Management in Accounting from Sichuan University, China, and a Master of Business Administration and Accountancy from Oregon State University. He earned his Ph.D. of Business Administration in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 2021. His research interests include voluntary disclosures, sentiment analysis, capital structure, and international accounting. He has presented his work at the American Accounting Association’s Southwest Region/FBD Meetings and the Deloitte Foundation/J. Michael Cook Doctoral Consortium. He is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA). He teaches courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting.

Before his academic career, Kent worked at China Merchants Bank as a Corporate Account Manager for three years. He also worked in public accounting (tax), restaurant, and consulting industries.
