Professor of Statistics
Dr. Gardner’s record includes publications in the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Journal of Insurance Regulation, Risk Management and Insurance Review, Financial Education, CPCU Journal/e-Journal, Drake Management Review, and other outlets. Research honors include awards from the Casualty Actuarial Society Climate Change Committee, the CPCU Society, and State Farm Companies Foundation. Her comments on various insurance subjects appeared in articles reported by the Atlanta Constitution and Journal, Des Moines Register, Interest.com, and Bankrate.com.
Her consulting work includes calculating sample sizes; evaluating performance metrics and making recommendations for quality control programs; reviewing research designs and statistical results for accuracy; calculating statistics; and discussing results in practical terms orally and in writing. Applications include in health insurance claims audits, payroll and benefit audits, pharmaceutical management, and financial services incentive compensation programs.
As a principal investigator for grants, Dr. Gardner developed budget forecasts, outlined deliverables, met deadlines, and budget targets. Her record includes successfully securing and administering more than $1 million in grants thru private as well as federal sources.
A recipient of Drake's non-Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award, and two advising awards while a faculty member at Bradley University, Gardner especially enjoys helping students.
