About the Buchanans

Bill Buchanan, BN’57, and his wife, Jean, established the Buchanan Center in 2009 with a generous $3 million gift. Bill graduated with a degree in actuarial science from Drake and is now chairman of Unified Life Insurance, Co.

The Buchanans are dedicated members of the Drake family. Bill has served on Drake's National Advisory Council for the Zimpleman College of Business and received the University's Alumni Loyalty Award in 2007.  In addition to their support of the Center, they have also contributed to other causes at the University.
