International Candidates

International students who wish to apply for admission to CBPA graduate program at Drake University must provide the following, in addition to the standard admission requirements:

  • Academic records and examination results always must be submitted to Drake University in official form, which will differ from country to country. Faxed transcripts and transcripts photocopied without a fresh seal from the secondary or post-secondary school are not considered official records, and an admission decision cannot be made until the official records are submitted. Any translated record should be a literal translation, not an interpretative one, and should be accompanied by the original-language record. Both records should be freshly certified by the school, not by notaries or translators.
  • Original or certified copies of academic records or transcripts in official form from all institutions attended, including exam results, must be submitted by the educational institution directly to Drake University either by mail or electronically. Candidates are also required to submit an official course-by-course credential evaluation for each international institution attended through World Education Services.
  • If you earned your undergraduate degree outside of the United States, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required. Scores dated within the last two years are acceptable and must be reported directly from the testing agency. Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 213 on the computer-based exam, 550 on the paper-based exam, or 79-80 on internet-based exam. Minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5. Minimum scores on each section of reading, writing, speaking and listening may be required.
  • To satisfy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service regulations, international students must submit documented evidence of financial support for their education expenses. The 2020-2021 Financial Certificate must be signed by the student and sponsor and either countersigned and sealed by the sponsor's bank or a separate letter or statement may be issued to support the information provided on the certificate. Although the admission decision at Drake University is unrelated to the receipt of this certificate or other proof of adequate financial resources, an immigration document (the I-20) cannot be issued for a student visa until the resources are proven adequate and verified. Students sponsored by governments or organizations must provide an original letter on official stationery showing the amount of the grant or sponsorship.

International applicants with full-time visa status requirements are welcome to apply for our full-time programs in the Master of Accounting (MAcc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs in the College of Business and Public Administration at Drake University. The application and necessary documents should be submitted at least three months before the term for which you apply begins to allow time for document verification, which may take more than four weeks. Applications may be submitted for the fall, spring, or summer terms.
