Course Overview

Research shows that students achieve higher grades and better test scores when their parents are involved in their education. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to implement strategies that build a cooperative, productive partnership with the parents of your students.

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Improve communication with both students and parents.
  • Build and maintain parents' trust throughout the school year.
  • Better prepare for and conduct parent conferences.
  • Effectively communicate with parents about a problem.
  • Defuse emotional confrontations with parents.
  • Encourage parents to take an active part in their child's education.

This course includes several examples of successful parent involvement practices at various grade levels that will guide you in developing your own approach to enhanced parent participation.

This course is available in VHS or DVD format.
