Casting a wide net: The importance of diversity for the neurosciences
I will discuss the following objectives:
- Highlight the importance of diversity in helping to engage and recruit new voices to the biological sciences
- Highlight the importance of diversity in thought and practice in helping to expand what we know about brain organization and brain evolution
- Provide a brief outline of my collaborative research and some of the insights we've gained from our work on diverse mammalian species
- Conclude with a call for further engagement at all levels of science training in local and regional science networks and highlight the unique vantage point of Iowa and its institutions in helping to contribute towards the future biomedical workforce
