Summer Institute of Language and Culture

Drake's Summer Institute of Language and Culture (SILC) is a four week Intensive English Program that incorporates classroom learning with supporting activities to provide participants with an intense and immersive language experience.

The program includes two different tracks, General English and Academic English, that are offered at the same time from July 1-26, 2019.

The Academic English Track is designed specifically for those students who are pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in a U.S. college or university. The classes offered within this track are: TOEFL Preparation, Academic Language Preparation, and Reading & Vocabulary, all with a strong academic focus.

The General English Track courses include American Culture, Grammar, and Listening & Speaking, which are designed to help students improve their communication skills and learn more about American culture while visiting Iowa. We have a number of exciting events and field trips planned this summer!
