Ali Malik earned his Ph.D. in Socio-legal Studies at York University (Toronto). He earned his MA in International Human Rights Law from the American University in Cairo and participates in the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School. He has published in the UC Irvine Law Review and has presented his research at a range of institutions, such as the National University of Singapore, SOAS-London, and the University of Texas. Drawing on a range of interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological influences rooted in anthropology and geography, postcolonial studies, and critical legal and social theory, his dissertation titled Conjunctures in Law & Development: Exploring Three Agricultural Futures in India focuses on the historical and legal intersections of agriculture, technology, and development in India.
