Vince Kenney is Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Low Brass at Drake University, where he directs low brass studies and conducts the Drake University Symphonic Band, Marching Band, and Bulldog Brass.
Vince is active performing as both a euphonium soloist and as a chamber musician. He has presented guest artist recitals at dozens of the finest universities and music conferences throughout the United States including the United States Army Band Tuba/Euphonium Workshop, the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Conference (TMEA), and the Eastman School of Music. As a member of the North Texas Euphonium Quartet, Vince has also helped to establish the euphonium quartet as a viable chamber medium. To date, Vince has assisted in premiering nine new pieces written specifically for the North Texas Euphonium Quartet, with many more soon to come.
A two-time finalist in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Solo Competition, Vince completed his undergraduate degrees in music performance and education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, his master’s degree in Euphonium Performance from the University of North Texas, and is currently finishing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Euphonium Performance at the same institution.
Prior to his work at Drake, Vince served as the Director of Instrumental Music at North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas where he founded the NCTC Wind Ensemble. He has had the opportunity to perform in Mexico City, Mexico with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Mineria, and is very happy to be living in the Midwest close to family and friends.
