Staub named next dean of Drake SJMC

Dr. Catherine M. Staub has been named the next dean of the Drake School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Staub will begin her new role next July when the current dean, Kathleen Richardson, retires.

Associate Professor Staub is currently the Peggy Fisher and Larry Stelter Chair of Magazine Journalism at Drake. She also directs the SJMC’s E.T. Meredith Center for Magazine Studies. Staub joined the SJMC faculty in 2015. Prior to moving into academia, she worked as an associate editor at Meredith Corporation and founded her own content marketing agency, Lexicon. Staub will be the eighth SJMC dean since the School was founded in 1962. Journalism education at Drake began in 1919.
