Drake's Commitment to Violence Prevention

Drake University is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment in which all members of our community can thrive and reach their full potential. As a part of this commitment, Drake believes it is important that we take a comprehensive approach to violence prevention. We have developed a campus wide violence prevention plan that focuses on primary prevention and that we believe will compliment efforts to respond to violence. Over the course of 2017, a committee made of faculty, staff, and students reviewed Drake specific data, including the We Make Drake campus climate survey, and identifed priority goals that will help prevent violence at Drake. This plan was also informed by national best practices put forward by Center for Disease Control’s Division of Violence Prevention. You can view the plan here: Drake Violence Prevention Goals.
