The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is a four-year undergraduate degree that prepares students for success in careers related to the health care industry. The curriculum in Health Sciences focuses on developing necessary knowledge, skill sets and professional experience to help students become successful health care professionals.
This degree provides opportunities for students to build upon the foundational skills of a liberal arts education in an interdisciplinary curriculum. Faculty representing the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Business and Public Administration provide coursework in the biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical sciences, health care management, and administration and health behavior.
Drake's Health Sciences program provides opportunities early in the curriculum for students to interact and work with a wide range of scientific and health care professionals. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in health care but are unsure of which career may be best for them find this aspect of the Health Sciences major beneficial. Once students decide which area of health care they would like to pursue, participation in advanced experiences in health care settings allow them to integrate classroom material and develop higher-level skills.
