The office of Student Accounts is committed to providing quality service for students, families and colleagues.  Should you have a concern we recommend the following:

In general, a complaint is defined as a concern that a policy or procedure has been incorrectly or unfairly applied or that inappropriate behavior or action has occurred.  For a complaint, first discuss the problem with the staff member with which the issue is originated.  If you would like the complaint to move forward following the discussion, please contact the Student Account Supervisor. A final discussion  with the Director regarding the complaint may be requested following the staff and Supervisor review.  Once the steps have been taken a formal complaint can be recorded.

As a division of Business and Finance, the Office of Student Accounts handles several different services other than the billing and collection of payment. For example: information on payment options, parking registration and pickup student payroll checks.

  • Tuition and Fees (Cost of attendance)
    The full time undergraduate hours begin at 12 credits.
  • Business and Finance Joint Degree (Cost)
  • Joint Degree Tuition:
  • During the fall and spring semesters: Hours taken are billed at the full-time rate in the primary program (either Pharmacy or Law) to the max of 18 hours max for Pharmacy, 17 max for Law.
  • Overload hours are charged at the rate equal to the primary program part-time rate per hour
  • Joint Degree Tuition:
  • During the summer session: Hours taken in the secondary degree program (MBA or MPA) will be billed at the secondary program rate. Hours taken in the primary program will be billed at the primary program rate, (Pharmacy, Law)
  • Hours taken at the secondary degree program (undergraduates taking graduate courses) and admitted into the graduate program will be billed at the secondary program rate.

    Employer Tuition Deferment: Students wishing to submit an application must log into blueView, Student Services Tab, My Drake Account and submit the on line application. Payment of the $35.00 application fee must also be paid before the application can be processed. Questions regarding the deferment can be directed at the Office of Student Accounts, 515-271-2151 #4.
  • Refund Policy: Refunds created by student loans will be issued within 3-5 business days from the date of disbursement of such loans. In cases where a Federal Parent Plus Loan results in an overpayment on the student's account, the refund will be issued according to the borrowers request.

    Students must submit the request form to our office with payment.  Once the form is received the request will then be processed.  The transcript request form can also be found to the left in navigation.

  • Tuition and fees are not transferable, but the student's account will be credited when a withdrawal has been processed.  Withdrawals must be initiated by the student at their College or School Dean's Office (or for students not seeking a Drake degree, the Student Records and Academic Information Office).  Withdrawals made prior to the beginning of classes will receive 100 percent tuition refund.  Withdrawals after the class has begun will receive tuition credit per the appropriate withdrawal schedule.  The adjustments for room and board charges will be made to the student's account once the adjusted amounts are received from Residence Life and Sodexho.
  • Billing of tuition and fees and due dates
    The billing of tuition is done prior to the start of the fall/spring terms and prior to the beginning of the summer sessions.  Payment is due on or before the first day of the fall and spring terms.  Payment for the summer session are due on or before the start of that course(s).  Tuition payments can be made by cash, check, mastercard, visa or discover.  Credit card payments can be either be made online at www.drake.edu and then log into blueView or by calling the Office of Student Accounts.  A 15% late payment fee will be assessed each month on the unpaid balances.  Payment will not  be accepted for student tuition accounts that reflect a zero balance.
  • E-Bill

Drake University is going "Green"! To do our part in helping the environment, the the billing of tuition and fees will be done with E-Bill. The E-Bill process was first introduced during the summer of 2006.  Beginning with the summer of 2008, all billing statements will be paperless.  Students who are enrolled will receive notification on their Drake University assigned email when their statement will be available to view. The statement can be accessed in blueView on the Student Services Tab, My Drake Account Channel. This channel will show the account at that time, as well as the the most current statement.  Students who have questions regarding E-Bill can contact the Office of Student Accounts. Students are now able to pay on-line via credit card. The payment is posted automatically to their tuition account. Other vital information available is the 1098-T tax notice that is now on-line, no more paper tax notifications will be mailed. The tax form as well as account information is available 24/7.

  • Federal Perkins/Health Professional Loans-Drake Private Loans
    Once a student accepts the loan on their award letter from Financial Aid a promissory note must be signed before the loan can be credited to the account.  Notification for the Federal Perkins will be sent to the student with instructions on how to sign the note on line.  The actual promissory note for the Health Professional Loan will be mailed to the student to sign and return.
